I conducted my testing using OOo-dev 3.4.0 DEV300m100 (Build:9571) and the attached PowerPoint presentation (created with Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007) on a Windows7 system. Slide 4 and Slide 5 also form a pair that differs only in what type of line connects the objects.

In PowerPoint, these slides look identical except for the arrow-tips. The only difference between Slide 2 and Slide 3 is that the text objects in one are connected using the straight-arrow tool while in the other they are connected using the straight-line tool. To replicate this problem, use Impress to open the sample PowerPoint file I have attached to this bug. You can quickly see this problem in the two jpeg images I've attached, which show side-by-side comparisons of screenshots of the slides which differed between PowerPoint and Impress displays. However, lines of the same angles drawn using the straight-line tool remained as originally depicted in PowerPoint. In my testing, when Impress opened drawings containing angled lines drawn using the straight-arrow tool in PowerPoint, Impress drew those arrows with one or more right-angle bends between origin and destination, instead of directly connecting origin and destination with a straight line.
